Your tour guide for a Stockholm city tour

Let me show you my beautiful native city of Stockholm. To me, Stockholm is water, green areas, varied architecture, and an ever-changing vibrant city proudly showing off all seasons of the year. Stockholm has a long and fascinating history that I would love to share with you.

City sightseeing in Stockholm

Most importantly, Stockholm is my birthplace, which means I know the city´s inns and outs. City sightseeing is best done with a local. I focus on making my guided tours entertaining yet informative. Relaxed, yet educational. I guess you could say it´s edutainment. See me as your man on the inside. The tours can be done by foot, bike, bus, car, or boat.

Tour Stockholm – what to see

Apart from making my tours as genuine as possible I also focus on showing the greatest museums, venues, and city areas. Below you´ll find a list of some of the most popular things to see in Stockholm.

Stockholm Craft Beer

An interest close to my heart is beer, or more accurately; craft beer. It´s one of those things that still keeps me interested after all these years. Since my beer interest started about 15 years ago I´ve brewed beer, educated others to do the same, held countless beer tastings, created guided tours and held lectures on the subject of beer and Swedish beer history, become a beer judge and judged both homebrewing and commercial events and much, much more.

If you are interested in Swedish beer or its history I can offer beer tastings, guided tours, and lectures on the subject. I have two tours on Stockholm beer history; the Stockholm Craft Beer Tour and the Södermalm Craft Beer Tour.

Södermalm Tour

The island of Södermalm is home to several vibrant neighborhoods and some of the best views the city has to offer. Södermalm has many intact historic wooden buildings & green areas but also a ton of cozy cafés & bars. Here you can get a look at where the locals go, see the history of the people of the city whilst all the while being surrounded by water as well as lovely parks and greenery.

Riddarholmen Tour

This island is often forgotten as it is a tranquil island without any residents. Yet, it´s part of the old town and is home to one of the city´s oldest buildings, Riddarholmskyrkan, built by Franciscan monks at the turn of the century twelve- and thirteen hundred. From here you have a fantastic view of the western part of the city over the freshwater lake Mälaren, several palaces from the sixteen hundreds, and a statue of the founder of Stockholm, Birger Jarl.

Gamla Stan (Old Town) Tour

This is the scene of some of the most dramatic events in Stockholm's history. In Gamla Stan, you can dream your way back to the birth of Stockholm in 1252 as you walk along the winding alleyways and cobblestone streets that are a remnant of a time before the straight streets and organized city blocks of today. From a historical perspective, the old town is a must-visit. Nowhere else is the presence of history as palpable as here. Look at the imposing royal palace, walk through the main square or why not step down into one of the many medieval basements still intact.

Långholmen Tour

This lucious, green island is often missed by both tourists and natives alike. Långholmen is a mere few minute walk from the busy area of Hornstull. The island is most famous as the prison island historically with many of the buildings from the seventeenhundreds still intact, although today the old prison is a hotel, hostel and artist studios. The island holds the old summer house of the founder of Absolut Vodka, several beaches, and is often referred to as the green lung of the area.

Venues

Stockholm City Hall

Visit the arguably most iconic building of Stockholm, City Hall, from 1923 with its gilded three crowns visible throughout the city. This is where the Nobel Prize banquet is held and, from where the city of Stockholm is governed. Most importantly, it is an absolute architectural gem well worth a visit.

The Vasa Museum Tour

Visit the Vasa museum housing the unique wooden warship from the sixteen hundreds that is over 98% intact original, and beautifully decorated with hand-carved wooden sculptures. The Vasa Museum tells the story of Sweden during a time of extreme expansion and the successful failure through the very ornate ship that sank on its maiden voyage in 1628.
